Why ZRE Paddles?

Faster, Lighter, Stronger, Better: Since 1973

Since 1973 Zaveral Racing Equipment has been producing high-quality paddles for canoeing, outrigger, whitewater, dragon boat and stand-up paddling.

Our carbon fiber paddles are strong and super-light so you can go faster, with less fatigue and enjoy your paddling sport even more.

Paddles For Every Sport

  • Stand Up – Our SUP paddles are popular among top pros
  • Dragonboat – Lightweight, race-winning paddles for dragonboat enthusiasts
  • Outrigger – Wider blade for ocean paddlers
  • Whitewater – Designed by national slalom champion Harold Deal
  • Flatwater – Serious flatwater canoe paddle for racing canoeists
  • Recreational – Top quality canoe paddle for weekend warriors

Construction

Zaveral Paddles are constructed as follows:

GRIP – 100% Carbon Fiber/Epoxy – these hollow grips fit comfortably
in your palm with their ergonomic dimple pattern and finger recess.

SHAFT – Every ZRE paddle shaft is hollow, crafted to custom

lengths at 1/32nd inch intervals. Smoother Shaft-To-Blade Transition

for cleaner entry/exit.

All our shafts are made of 100% Carbon Fiber Pre-Preg. and centerless wet sanded to a super-smooth, polished finish.

BLADE – All ZRE paddles have angled, super-durable, foam
core blades with computer balanced weighting.

Blades are foiled to minimize turbulence, providing the smoothest entry/exit in the industry.

Perfectly Symmetrical for smoother, more natural rhythm. Sharpened shoulders for a super-efficient, close to the keel line power-stroke.

Technology

Zaveral Racing Equipment has adapted two aerospace technologies to the Manufacture of it’s Lightweight Canoe Paddles.

Pre-Impregnated Carbon Fiber – the lightest and strongest paddle material available. 100% high-modulus, otherwise known as Graphite – this is the lightest and strongest material available and the very same Carbon Fiber they make Formula1 Grand Prix Race Car Bodies out of.

100% Carbon Fiber Cloth With Epoxy – slightly heavier than pre-preg, just as durable.

This is why we say they are, Faster, Lighter, Stronger, Better.

For years we have stood alone as the paddle of choice for some of the world’s most elite racers and enthusiasts, including canoe racers, sup paddlers, dragon boat and whitewater athletes.

Find a paddle that’s right for you!

 ZRE PowerSurge Details

Special Features:

  • Ultra fine edge profile allowing the cleanest possible blade entry and release.  Why? The less splash on entry: the more effiicent the catch will be.  On exit, you want an easy release that reduces the chance of creating drag.  Maximum efficiency!
  • Concave blade face also contributes to a cleaner blade entry.
  • Dihedral Spine this runs down the blade face and helps ensure a balanced grip in the water preventing blade flutter through the power phase of the stroke.
  • Grip all models come with the hollow, ergonomic design carbon grip as standard.  This is designed to sit in the palm of your hand and your fingers wrap over the top contour – very comfortable.
  • Suitable for all types of SUP – perfect for endurance racing.

ZRE FlatFace Details (Wave Paddle)

Special Features:

  • Ultra fine edge profile allowing the cleanest possible blade entry and release.  Why? The less splash on entry: the more effiicent the catch will be.  On exit, you want an easy release that reduces the chance of creating drag.  Maximum efficiency!
  • Flat blade face more predictable handling in dynamic surf conditions.
  • Surface Area compared to the PowerSurge, the FlatFace blade has a “fuller” shape with the sides of the blade extending up higher towards the shaft before tapering in to the blade neck.  This results in a greater surface area for the same blade width.
  • Grip all models come with the hollow, ergonomic design carbon grip as standard.  This is designed to sit in the palm of your hand and your fingers wrap over the top contour – very comfortable.
  • Suitable for all types of SUP – perfect for use in the surf where you may need to rapidly exit the blade mid-stroke.

Looking After Your ZRE Paddle

To get maximum enjoyment and life out of your ZRE paddle we recommend you follow some simple steps:
1) Always keep your paddle in a bag when not being used.  Don’t leave it on the floor – someone WILL stand on it – this won’t be a warranty claim.
2) Take care not to lean on your paddle when in shallow water or on rocks –  this may place excessive stress on the paddle and cause damage.
3) Initial use – when you first get your paddle you may want to experiment with longer lengths before finally fixing the grip into the shaft.  If you do this be aware that damage caused to the grip is not covered under warranty.  The grip is designed to fit quite deep within the shaft and is not designed to withstand the friction caused by a loose attachment to the shaft – for example when using tape to hold it in.  If you do use tape, just try this for a short period of time to minimise the chance of damaging the grip.
4) The edges of the blade can damage your board (or you), especially if you have used the paddle for a while and  caused some minor damage to the blade edge.  You can easily fix problems like this by gently sanding down the affected area on the blade.  By looking carefully at the blade you can see the strip of carbon that goes around the edge – this can safely be sanded into.  Do not sand beyond this strip.
5) Damaged paddles should be taken to your retailer for assessment, minor damage can be fixed – usually using epoxy resin to fill dings on the blade face or blade edge.
