Covid -19 has presented many challenges across all industries and we have had to adapt our normal offerings to take account of government guidelines especially social distancing and hygiene rules. With this in mind we have had to review what we are able to offer for season 2020 and unfortunately some activity sessions will simply not be available. We will also be operating on a vastly reduced instructor team which will mean limited session availability and we STRONGLY recommend that you book spaces in advance to secure your spot. We have had to make some changes to our operating procedures to comply with government guidelines so please be patient with us. We have introduced some new products and hope that our new “surf n hire” deal will be appealing for those of you who want to make a day of being at the beach. Details are here.
As we are all aware as the season progresses there may be government advice which allows us or requires us to make more changes so please keep referring back to our website. Please take time to read the accompanying information. Thank you all for your patience.
Our opening hours will be extended – this will be based on demand. When booking your arrival time for your session will be confirmed. Bookings can be made online as per usual and we firmly advise doing so in advance to guarantee availability.
Min age for surfing is now 7yrs old.
We can take a max of 5 individuals from different households. Instructor:pupil ratio will be 1:5
For families from the same bubble we can operate on 1:8 ratio. Two families from different bubbles are permitted to surf together with a max of 8 in the group.
We can take larger group bookings but the group will have to be split to take in to account government guidelines and ratios and may well have slightly staggered start times. We will adhere to ratios as advised by government. These may well change during the season.
If you have your own wetsuit PLEASE bring it with you. No short wetsuits permitted for coasteering. If you are doing a sup or kayak tour with us bring a drybag if you have one, shorty wetsuits are perfect for sup and kayak.
We will be offering early evening sunset SUP sessions – tide and weather permitting and hire kit will be available for longer hours this season
We will require a min of 2 people for any session to run in order for it to be cost effective for us. We may from time to time have to move your lesson time to ensure efficiency of our team.
For any activity sessions requiring the use of a buoyancy aid you will be required to fit it yourself and to check. Our guides will ensure a clear demonstration is given.
- Min age will be 7 yrs old, we will not be able to run our 1hr fun sessions for 5-6yr olds because of the close contact that is required.
- Learn to surf sessions will run daily as per normal – start times may be staggered. You will be given confirmation closer to your booking time. If you request a morning/afternoon lesson we should be able to provide that unless in exceptional circumstances. SUP, kayak and coasteering sessions will be based around tide times.
- Learn to Surf Packages and Surf Camp – due to operating with limited staff we have condensed these courses and they will now run as two sessions – please check our booking system for availability.
- Surf N Hire Day – a new package that we hope will prove to be very popular – a morning lesson followed by use of the equipment for the rest of the afternoon up to 5pm. Also available as 2 lessons and 2 hires . Details here
Coasteering/ Kayaking and SUP:
These sessions will run as per normal as per ratio guidelines above. We can accommodate group bookings but groups will have to be split up and may have a slightly staggered start time.
IMPORTANT MIN AGE – Due to Covid 19 restrictions on ratios we will be running mixed age sessions. Children U16 must be accompanied by an adult for coasteering, kayak and SUP sessions and it is important that they have reasonable confidence in the water, can swim 50m unaided and have the physical ability to keep up with adults. Private family or group lessons are available as an option. We really value your business so if you are unsure of any of these requirements please do not hesitate to contact us
We will be operating the hire side of the business as per normal where possible. Normal hours for hire will be from 10am until 6pm, We will remain open later on busy days. Surfboards, wetsuits, kayaks, paddleboards, bodyboards will all be available. There will be a strict sanitisation procedure and kit will be placed into green and red zones with green zones ready for use and red zones for kit that needs to be sanitised. Please do NOT handle any kit until instructed to do so. Where buoyancy aids are provided you will be required to self fit. Please be patient with us if a queue forms as it may take a little longer for us to allocate kit due to Covid -19 guidelines. For a detailed information sheet on kit hire procedures please check here.
