Learning to stand up on a surfboard is very different to knowing how to surf and understanding what you do. When you learn with us we guarantee you will gain this understanding. We want you to achieve your aims and specific goals and we have a variety of different ability lessons to help you. Our instructors have a range of unique techniques and exercises to help your learner style and ability level. We understand that people learn at different speeds and in different ways. Having exclusive use of Harlyn and Treyarnon beaches during the peak periods ensures that our surf school will be the only one in the water and therefore you will be surfing in uncrowded conditions unlike on other beaches. Harlyn is the safest and best learning beach in the immediate area and is probably one of the safest beaches on the North Cornish coast.

The lesson descriptions below should help you to decide which course to book, please contact us if you are unsure. Most people book at least two lessons with our most popular course being the fast track 4 sessions.

If you have never surfed before and you wish to start at the beginning then these lessons are for you. In your first lesson you will learn important safety points about the beach and your equipment. You will gain an understanding of how to look after yourself and the surfboard in the water. In your introduction to surfing you will learn how to catch waves, correct positioning/trim and different popup techniques. Surfing is a fun exciting sport, but without proper instruction many of its joys will be missed. £35pp (equipment free) Why not really accelerate your learning and book our 4 lesson Beginner Fast Track course?

If you have had a lesson before or completed our Beginner Fast Track course and can stand up on your board on whitewater waves then these lessons will suit you. You will be looking to improve your paddling skills, speed up your popup and develop better wave selection skills. On days when the waves are smaller you will be looking to surf waves before they have broken. Available as a single lesson (£35pp, equipment free) or as a 4 lesson Fast Track Course (£110pp)

You’re starting to get the hang of it, but now you want to start riding the unbroken waves and learn some new skills. This introduction to performance surfing will teach you how to get up on waves even before they break, how to links turns together and how to get out in rougher surf. If you have your own board, bring it along and we’ll show you how to get the most out of it. To give you the most attention and hands-on training possible, developer group classes generally consist of only three to six students. Cost £35pp To really benefit book a FAST TRACK DEVELOPER course and have 4 progressive lessons.

Our most popular courses! There’s no better way to get started than with progressive lessons to teach you how to surf and then improve and refine your technique. Our programme works so well that we even GUARANTEE that we’ll have you standing after three lessons – or else we give you FREE additional lessons until you do! Your first lesson will teach all of the basic surfing fundamentals, just as we do in our taster sessions while with the successive three lessons you spend more time in the water improving and expanding your abilities. If you’re looking to build up your confidence in the surf and get up on your feet in no time, this is the way to go.

It doesn't matter what level of surfer you are, beginner, improver or developer when you take one of our fast track courses you will really develop your surfing. £110 per person (equipment FREE)

Full Board 2 to 5 day residential courses. Our accommodation is in a stunning location overlooking the beach at Treyarnon. Packages start from £150pp and include 2 surf sessions per day, all equipment, tuition, accommodation and all meals. They are suitable for all levels from Beginner to Developer. Please see the 'One Weekend' link for further details. These courses are very popular so it is important to book well in advance to guarantee availability.

These 2 day courses are available either as a full board residential option or course only option. They have been designed for surfers who have reached a plateau and need to have the guidance and tips to take them to the next level. The course will cover surfing technique, board design, catching unbroken waves, turning and trimming, developing speed techniques, oceanography, surf rescue and basic first aid, all essential skills and knowledge that every surfer should have. The course is based at the stunning Treyarnon youth hostel overlooking the beach and includes both practical coaching and classroom theory sessions. The weekend course is designed and pitched to surfers who can stand up on 8 out of 10 waves and have grasped the basics of surfing. You should be able to paddle out through small broken waves and looking to either develop or improve your skills on unbroken waves.

With a private lesson, the sky's the limit, you're bound to learn at your fastest-possible pace. Whatever your individual needs, we'll be happy to do our best to meet them. Suitable for singles, pairs or families seeking a customised learning experience.
