At Harlyn Surf School we take pride in personalising all of our surfing lessons and focus on small student to surf instructor ratios, with an emphasis on QUALITY rather than QUANTITY. Whether you are a complete beginner or an improver we can style our surf school lessons to suit your needs. At Harlyn Surf School you will find the perfect combination of relaxation, fun, and adventure that fits all different lifestyles. Children and adults, guys and girls, singles and couples, groups and families, are all invited to this unique experience and you will always find a friendly, patient, considerate and professional surf instructor to help with your specific needs.

Lessons are for 2hrs and include FREE use of equipment, boards and wetsuits. We run 2 lessons per day meeting by our surf cabin on Harlyn Beach at 09.30am to start at 10am and 1.30pm to start at 2pm. On selected dates we have a 4.15pm to 6.15pm lesson available; 11/07 - 19/07, 25/07 - 04/08, 10/08 - 17/08, 24/08 - 01/09

Experience the wonderful waters of Harlyn bay in three different ways

Costs £110pp (can be spread over a weekend or week)

2 hr lesson (suitable for individuals, couples and families)+ afternoon practice and have fun with use of equipment free. The day runs from 09.30 - 16.30 with a break for you to have lunch and take a breather. Costs £49pp

Discover the surf in a relaxed environment over 5 morning sessions. Loads of fun these courses are aimed at children, teenagers and adults. Available during the school holiday period starting July 6th. Mon - Friday 5 X 2hr lessons, limited spaces available. Cost £125pp and includes equipment, surf test and FREE BSA Junior Surfer Logbook and certificate for every participant.

If you have never surfed before then these lessons are for you. In this lesson you will learn important safety points about the beach and your equipment. You will gain an understanding of how to look after yourself and the surfboard in the water. In your introduction to surfing you will learn how to catch waves, correct positioning/trim and different pop-up techniques. Surfing is a fun exciting sport, but without proper instruction many of its joys will be missed. Available as a single 2hr lesson £35pp or as a 4 lesson Beginner Fast Track course £115pp.

If you have had a lesson before and can stand up on your board on whitewater waves then these lessons will suit you. You will be looking to improve your paddling skills, speed up your popup and develop better wave selection skills. On days when the waves are smaller you will be looking to surf waves before they have broken. Available as a single lesson (£35pp, equipment free) or as a 4 lesson Improver Fast Track Course (£115pp)

You’re starting to get the hang of it, but now you want to start riding the unbroken waves and learn some new skills. This introduction to performance surfing will teach you how to get up on waves even before they break, how to links turns together and how to get out in rougher surf. If you have your own board, bring it along and we’ll show you how to get the most out of it. To give you the most attention and hands-on training possible, developer group classes generally consist of only three to six students. Cost £35pp To really benefit book a FAST TRACK DEVELOPER course and have 4 progressive lessons.

If you are limited by time or want to practice what you have learnt in the morning and develop your skills further then take a full day course. This comprises of 2 x 2 hour lessons in the same day, 1 lesson in the morning and one in the afternoon. £70 per person (equipment Free)

Our most popular courses! There’s no better way to get started than with progressive lessons to teach you how to surf and then improve and refine your technique. Our programme works so well that we even GUARANTEE that we’ll have you standing after four lessons – or else we give you FREE additional lessons until you do! Your first lesson will teach all of the basic surfing fundamentals, just as we do in our taster sessions while with the successive three lessons you spend more time in the water improving and expanding your abilities. If you’re looking to build up your confidence in the surf and get up on your feet in no time, this is the way to go.

It doesn't matter what level of surfer you are, beginner, improver or developer when you take one of our fast track courses you will really develop your surfing. £115 per person (equipment FREE)

Why not combine your surfing lessons with a stay at Treyarnon youth hostel, ideally located right next to some fantastic surfing beaches, great food, licensed bar and full board options available. Packages include 2 lessons per day, all meals and accommodation. 2 day FB = £193pp, 3 day £289pp, 4 day £386pp (own transport required) You can also hire wetsuits, bodyboards and surfboards from our hire centre at the hostel (open July & August, hire available from our Harlyn beach unit from May - September) and we also have a great range of bodyboards and wetsuits for sale.

Private lessons are great for those wanting lots of feedback, for families looking to learn on their own, or for those wanting advanced or specific instruction. With a private lesson, the sky's the limit, you're bound to learn at your fastest-possible pace. Whatever your individual needs, we'll be happy to do our best to meet them. Suitable for singles, pairs or families seeking a customised learning experience.
