It was back in the early 1990's that Harlyn Surf School first started offering surfing lessons and we are still as passionate about it as ever. Today whether you are one of our many returning guests or a first time visitor you'll discover like - minded people enjoying a fantastic choice of activities with us. We are one of the original surf schools in the UK and we have introduced thousands of people to surfing and other watersports as well as training lots of beach lifeguards and surf instructors. We have been teaching people how to surf and paddleboard longer than anyone else in the local area and pretty much in the UK. It takes a long time to discover and learn the best teaching practices and skill development techniques and we want to share our knowledge and experience with you whilst offering you outstanding customer service and the highest level of tuition. There are lots of surf schools to choose from, here are some of the things we think you should consider when making your choice.
STAFF
Year after year compliments about our staff keep flooding in, their friendly and dedicated attitude means they go out of their way to make your holiday activity a happy one. Any programme is only as good as its staff and their training, we take this very seriously. The calibre of our surf instructors is probably one of our our greatest assets. At Harlyn Surf School, our team are incredibly highly trained and motivated, totally dedicated to helping you learn new skills. Our instructors work with you in small, well structured groups so you have a fantastic and productive learning experience and stay safe at all times. All our staff are CRB checked, experienced in coaching and working with children and every one of them regardless of what they do share our genuine committment to making your time with us one you'll want to repeat.

CHOICE
We realise that choice is important, that's why we provide a fantastic range of activities for you to choose from. For those of you that may not want to surf we have a choice of other exciting activities ranging from stand up paddleboarding, kayaking and coasteering. If you want to stay in luxury accommodation we can arrange it for you, if you want the surf 'n' spa experience we have it covered, if you want to learn with a group of friends or have private lessons then no problem, advice on buying a board - who better to ask? In fact we believe we offer one of the best services out there.
OUR LOCATION
Harlyn beach, is as the Sunday Times descibed "an undiscovered gem" Harlyn is the safest beach in the area and in fact probably on the whole North Cornish coast. We are the original surf school in the area and have operated from Harlyn since 1994 and have an outstanding track record for safety and customer service over many years.
There are many surf schools to choose from in Cornwall. Surf is a big industry here and so there are quite a few operators that have jumped on the bandwagon and offer a ‘splash and dash’ experience, sometimes at what may seem like an attractive price. Lots of these surf schools operate from beaches that are not really suitable for beginners, which is a bit like a novice skier trying to start out on black runs rather than the nursery slopes! We advise you to check to see if they are licensed operators, accredited and importantly ask about their qualifications and experience. So please do your research and choose your surf school with care, as it is so important to learn on a safe beach and from a truly professional surf school!!
