Harlyn Surf School was set up by Chris and Michelle Rea in 1994. As a family owned and run business, we have a driving passion to share our enthusiasm for the ocean with the next generation. We believe that all children and adults using the beach should have an understanding of the sea, surf safety, sun protection and a greater appreciation and awareness of the wonderful coastal environment in Cornwall.
Throughout all our surf lessons and water activities we emphasize the fundamentals of beach safety to promote solid lifelong practices. We keep class sizes small so that everyone can enjoy a personal learning experience as they discover how to make the most of the ocean.
Cornwall is a perfect place to make new friends and enjoy the fantastic lifestyle too. As well as surfing, paddleboarding, coasteering and sea kayaking, Harlyn Surf School offers wetsuit and board hire, a great shop, both online and on the beach, and a fantastic range of surf 'n' stay accommodation packages.
We are really proud that our surf school is the only surf school in the UK to be awarded an Adventure Activity Licence as a mark of our good safety practices and management. We are an Academy of Surfing Accredited Surf and Stand Up Paddleboard School, ASI are the world leaders in surfing/stand up paddleboarding education and accreditation and we abide by the high international standards for school operations. Our training centre is ASI accredited and what’s more, we are one of only a handful of Surf Life Saving GB Accredited Lifeguard Training Centres. Because we train lifeguards and surf instructors through our training arm, Saltwater Training, you are guaranteed that the quality of teaching you will enjoy at Harlyn Surf School is absolutely always first rate.
Whatever you want, we aim to make sure that every single one of our customers has the time of their life. That could be why so many of you come back year after year!!
" The instructors of the Harlyn Surf School convey their passion for surfing in every lesson. They are able to inspire enthusiasm amongst participants of all abilities by honing in on the technical flaws of each person to help them to continually progress. The surf experience provided by the school on each occasion is always one to remember. I am always looking forward to the next trip!" Michael Newman, Cardinal Vaughan School, July 2010
