SUP FAQ’s

What’s included?

We provide quality winter weight wetsuits to keep you nice and toasty out of season and shorties for Summer. We have an excellent range of SUP boards for all different sizes and ages.

Can I wear my own wetsuit?

Yes you can – shorty wetsuits are fine during the summer months. We advise wearing a full length wetsuit with a thickness that is appropriate for the time of year for October to end of May. If you have your own wetsuit please bring it with you.

Where do we meet?

Most of our lessons take place on the Camel estuary in Padstow with the meeting point being , Porthilly View, Padstow, PL28 8DH. We have a trailer parked in a small layby in this residential area. Please meet us there 30 mins prior to your lesson start time. Parking is limited. Please do not be late as we have strict timings to adhere too. We will provide boards, wetsuits and buoyancy aids.  If you have your own wetsuit you are welcome to bring it. If you need to use one of ours we will need your clothes size in advance. If the location is different you will be notified but if you dont hear from us please assume this is where you will meet us

How do I book lessons? Do I need to book in advance?

We are often teaching during the day and we would love you to book everything using our online booking system if posssible – you will find most, if not all the answers to any questions you have throughout the website FAQ’s and activity pages. Please email us if you have any further question. We do take bookings from our beach base but we highly recommend you book in advance to guarantee availability.

How long is the session?

All sessions are 1.5 hrs including your safety talk.. We ask that you check in 30 mins before your session start time so we can kit you out. If paddling on one of our adventure tours you may need to allow a minimum of 3hrs due to travelling time to locations.

What time do the sessions start?

This varies depending on tide times. Please click on the book now link to check on start times and availability.

How fit do I need to be?

A basic level of fitness is required – if you are happy on and in the water, generally this is enough to have a great time. You should be confident and we do provide buoyancy aids and wetsuits. Any concerns please contact us.

What is the min age?

We recommend a min age of 12 yrs old because SUP boards are larger than your average surfboard and challenging for younger to children to move around. For family private lessons please contact us if you have children younger than 12.

Can I make a group booking?

Yes of course we have a team of instructors ready and waiting. If you have a group of 8 or more please contact us to check availability.

Do you cancel if it is raining?

No we don’t. Whilst SUPing in lovely sunshine is preferred you can still have loads of fun in the rain. Often rainy days have provided some of our most memorable sessions!

What happens if I want to cancel my session?

Our cancellation policy is outlined in our terms and conditions.

What happens if it is too rough or windy?

We have an excellent health and safety record. However, if we deem the conditions to be unsuitable on the day then we will try our best to reschedule you or offer a different activity. Please see out terms and conditions.

Is it Safe?

Our instructors hold surf lifesaving qualifications and complete in house training to ensure best practice and that they are teaching to the high standards that we demand. They are qualified first aiders and have extensive knowledge of the areas that we operate in. We are licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service ensuring that we meet the highest standards of safety and best practice. This is our 30th year and we have an excellent health and safety record.

Can I wear glasses during the activity?

Yes for our SUP and kayak tours only. However we do recommend that these are securely attached to you in case of immersion. We do not allow glasses to be worn whilst paddling out or in through surf or close to any obstructions. It is preferable to wear contact lenses or prescription goggles if you have them because of safety issues.

Can I watch if I am not taking part?

Yes of course – there are viewing points at most locations. However if we are off on a tour viewing may become restricted.

Should I wear suncream?

Yes! You can burn even when it’s cloudy! We advise that you use a factor 30-50 water-resistant sun cream before taking part in one of our activities.

Can I book more than one lesson?

Yes of course – we recommend booking a series of lessons if you really wish to learn the basics or improve your skills.

How do I know which class to book?

Please refer to our “What level of SUPer am I?” in order to choose the most appropriate class for you.

Can we book the Monster SUP Adventure?

Yes of course, we can take a max of 6 adults or 10 children per monster SUP. If you have a mixed group and are unsure then please contact us to check.

Is there anywhere for refreshments nearby?

Padstow town centre is a max 10 min walk and there are numerous cafes, shops and restaurants. If your session is at Harlyn bay then there are catering companies in the car park offering a range of quality food. We do recommend that you are hydrated fully before your session especially if it is a hot day. If booking a guided tour we recommend that you bring a drink and a small snack

Are there toilets at the location?

If your session is at the Padstow meeting point there are no toilet facilities in the immediate area. Please ensure you have been to the toilet prior to meeting us. There are toilets at Harlyn Bay if your session is scheduled for there.

Is the beach dog friendly?
